Infamous Skeleton Air Regulator Wave Spring - Installation Guide & Review

Infamous Skeleton Air Regulator Wave Spring: Which Version Do You Need?

The Infamous Skeleton Air Regulator Wave Spring is a drop-in paintball marker regulator upgrade developed by Infamous in collaboration with Powerhouse MFG. Designed around precision woven flat-wire wave spring technology, this upgrade is engineered to provide quick and consistent regulator recovery for smoother velocity consistency and predictable shot-to-shot performance.

There are now two versions of the Skeleton Air Wave Spring designed for different paintball marker platforms: the New Wave Spring and the OG Wave Spring + Kit.

While both use wave spring technology, they are not installed or adjusted the same way. Choosing the correct version for your marker is important.

What Does the Infamous Skeleton Air Wave Spring Do?

The Skeleton Air Wave Spring replaces the compatible spring inside your paintball marker's regulator. Instead of using a conventional coil spring, it uses a precision woven flat-wire wave spring designed to provide consistent spring characteristics in a compact package.

The goal is quick and consistent regulator recovery after every shot. This can help support smoother velocity consistency, predictable shot-to-shot performance, and the ball-on-ball accuracy competitive players look for when shooting lanes or placing consecutive shots on target.

Powerhouse Wave Spring Technology

Powerhouse MFG has extensive experience using wave spring technology in competition-proven paintball air regulators, including the Haymkr, TKO, and Counterpunch. Infamous and Powerhouse adapted that performance-driven technology for use inside compatible paintball marker regulators.

The result is a simple drop-in regulator upgrade designed for players looking to fine tune the consistency and performance of their paintball marker.

New Wave Spring vs. OG Wave Spring + Kit

The most important thing to understand before ordering is that there are two different Skeleton Air Wave Springs.

The New Wave Spring is intended for select newer Planet Eclipse, DYE, DLX Luxe, and Shocker markers. It is professionally pre-set by Powerhouse and does not require or use adjustment shims.

The OG Wave Spring + Kit is designed for compatible earlier Planet Eclipse markers. This version includes two optional adjustment shims that can be added if your marker requires additional velocity adjustment.

New Skeleton Air Wave Spring

The New Infamous Skeleton Air Wave Spring comes professionally pre-set by Powerhouse in the USA. No shims are required, and shims should not be added to this version.

OG Skeleton Air Wave Spring + Kit

The OG Skeleton Air Wave Spring + Kit is designed for compatible earlier Planet Eclipse paintball markers. Unlike the New Wave Spring, the OG version includes two optional adjustment shims.

These shims should not automatically be installed. Begin with the OG Wave Spring by itself. If your marker cannot reach the desired velocity, add one shim and test again. Only install the second shim if additional adjustment is still required.

How to Install the New Skeleton Air Wave Spring

Important: Before installing the New Wave Spring, turn your marker's velocity adjustment screw all the way in clockwise to its lowest velocity setting. Do not reuse the marker's previous velocity setting.

  1. Unload and completely degas the paintball marker.
  2. Using the correct velocity adjustment Allen key, gently turn the velocity adjustment screw all the way in clockwise to its lowest setting. Do not overtighten.
  3. Install the pre-set Skeleton Air Wave Spring and completely reassemble the regulator and marker.
  4. Firmly secure all ASA screws before applying air.
  5. Air up the marker while the velocity adjustment remains at its lowest setting.
  6. Use a chronograph and slowly turn the velocity adjustment screw counterclockwise to increase velocity.
  7. Make small adjustments and check your velocity after each change until the desired setting is reached.

Do not add shims to the New Wave Spring. It has already been professionally pre-set by Powerhouse and is designed to operate without them.

Velocity adjustment tool sizes vary between markers. Always use the correct Allen key for your specific marker and never force an incorrectly sized tool into the adjustment screw.

How to Install the OG Skeleton Air Wave Spring + Kit

Installation of the OG Wave Spring should always begin with the Wave Spring alone. The two included shims are optional and should only be used if additional velocity adjustment is required.

  1. Unload and completely degas your paintball marker.
  2. Firmly secure both 5/32 inch ASA screws before airing up the marker.
  3. Turn the regulator down approximately one full turn before applying air.
  4. Install the OG Wave Spring without any shims and completely reassemble the regulator and marker.
  5. Air up the marker and check its velocity using a chronograph.
  6. Slowly adjust the velocity upward until the desired setting is reached.
  7. If the desired velocity cannot be reached, completely degas the marker and add one shim.
  8. Reassemble the marker, apply air, and check the velocity again.
  9. Only add the second shim if the desired velocity still cannot be reached with one shim installed.

Do not automatically install both shims. Start with the Wave Spring alone, add one shim only when necessary, and use the second shim only if additional adjustment is still required.

Which Infamous Skeleton Air Wave Spring Should You Buy?

Your marker determines which version you need. If you have a compatible modern Planet Eclipse, DYE, DLX Luxe, or Shocker marker listed above, choose the New Wave Spring. This version comes pre-set by Powerhouse and does not use shims.

If you have one of the compatible earlier Planet Eclipse markers, including popular platforms such as the EMEK, ETHA, CS1, CS2, GTEK, or earlier GEO models, choose the OG Wave Spring + Kit.

Always verify your exact marker model against the compatibility list before ordering.

Skeleton Air Wave Spring Frequently Asked Questions

What's the difference between the New and OG Skeleton Air Wave Springs?

Will the Skeleton Air Wave Spring increase my marker's velocity?

The Skeleton Air Wave Spring is designed as a regulator performance upgrade rather than simply a way to increase velocity. Its purpose is to provide quick, consistent regulator recovery that can support smooth velocity consistency and predictable shot-to-shot performance. Your marker's final velocity should always be properly adjusted and verified with a chronograph.

Do I need to chronograph my marker after installation?

Yes. Always chronograph your paintball marker after installing a Skeleton Air Wave Spring. Make small velocity adjustments and verify the marker's velocity after each change before playing.
