Why do people upgrade to a better paintball barrel?
A better barrel for a paintball gun is a great upgrade for any player looking for improved accuracy, a quieter paintball gun and, generally, a better time at the paintball field! Aftermarket paintball barrels, especially barrel kits that offer different sized inserts or barrel backs, allow players to tailor-make their barrel to any brand of paintballs for a better fit between the barrel and the paintball. This improves air efficiency, consistency from shot to shot over the chronograph, and drastically improves accuracy. With an upgraded barrel, practically any paintball gun will immediately deliver tighter shot groups at any range, allowing the player to hit an opponent’s elbow, heel or pack if left carelessly exposed, or make those amazing shots through slots in pallets, holes in spools or through gaps in brush or bunkers in the woods.
What is the best barrel to use on a paintball marker?
While there is not a one size fits all for paintball barrels, the most optimal barrels are between 14 to 16 inches and allow you to size your paint to your barrel. While paintballs will always vary in size and sometimes even shape, paint from the same manufacturer and sometimes even from the same batch will not be the same size. With the sizes always changing, the best thing to do typically is to have a barrel kit where you can check the paint in your inserts or barrel backs to find which size fits the best. What you want to look for when sizing paint is for the ball to not be too large and get stuck, too small and drop through, but you want it to glide through the barrel. When you find the right fit the ball should have a little bit of resistance when going through the barrel but you should be able to still easily blow it out.Â
